The truth is that in the north it rains, and it does a lot. And, especially in Galicia... That's why it's very easy for it to rain while you're doing the the Camino de Santiago. So, in today's article we want to leave you some tips that we think will help you.
Grab a pen and paper, because you might thank us:
1º Always carry a poncho with you
It weighs nothing, and hardly takes up... A well-folded poncho fits into any backpack pocket. That's why it's good that you take it with you, you never know when you might need it. And, in case it rains... You will appreciate it very much.
2º Rain shoes
It is important that you wear comfortable and cool footwear if it is in summer, but that it can also help you in case it rains... Otherwise, you can suffer a lot with wet feet. And, in case you are caught off guard by a heavy downpour, make sure your shoes are thoroughly dried when you arrive at the hostel.
3º Protect yourself
The truth is that although sometimes the downpours come almost unannounced, most of the time they send us signals... As the whole sky can be overcast, so if you see that the day is turning gray, go somewhere where you can take shelter . And, if you have to reduce the kilometers of the stage a bit, you can recover them the next day.
4º Take a plastic bag with you
Or two, so that if it starts to rain you can protect your belongings from the rain. And, if you have wet your clothes, you can put them in the bags so that they do not get mixed up with your dry clothes...
5º Rain pants
Like the poncho, this type of pants can be the most effective when you do the Santiago's road…
6º Enjoy the rain on the Camino de Santiago
The truth is that the rain in Galicia has its charm, even though it has a very bad reputation (and it is said that it rains from the side)... So if you are sheltered or are prepared for it, you can stop to enjoy it. And, if you are already in the last stage of the Camino de Santiago, or have reached the Cathedral, even more so...
