If we're being honest, we think we could be writing hundreds of reasons to make the the Camino de Santiago… And it is that we are true lovers of everything that surrounds it. But we have tried to summarize everything in 5 points:
1º Discover your limits
In an experience like the Camino de Santiago that, although precious is very hard, you will be able to discover your own limits and see how far you are capable of going. And it is that walking up to 20 km a day, sometimes suffering from the weather, feet that hurt, carrying our luggage... It can put us to the limit, and that is where we will see the strength that we can have.
2º Get to know yourself more thoroughly
And, in these moments, in which you push yourself to the limit, is when you also get to know yourself more thoroughly and see how far you are capable of going. How you respond to certain situations, and how you act in the face of problems.
But, in addition, we can also say that the fact of walking so many kilometers will give you time to think... And rediscover yourself. Something that in the society in which we live is very complicated due to the rush.
3º Disconnect from the routine
Get out of your comfort zone, get away from work and your day to day life just for a small space of time... And walk, and do stages to do the the Camino de Santiago. You really can disconnect from everything for a few days.
4º Meet new people
Another of the wonders that the the Camino de Santiago is that you meet people from all over the world and that they bring with them thousands of experiences and adventures. Soak up all of them, listen and talk to the pilgrims you meet along the way or in the hostels because you will surely not regret it.
5º Discover the Camino de Santiago
Not only the Jacobean religious experience but everything behind it... Pilgrims who want to go through the Holy Door, and atheists who want to experience it simply. The landscapes, the hostels and the bars of the small towns. Visit the monuments and walk the towns...
