We are already in the middle of the Christmas season, and from Caminofácil we have thought that it would be a good idea to comment here on a couple of books related to the Camino that have been published this year, and that can be a good Christmas/Three Kings gift for the little ones (Indeed, the two books reviewed here are children's/youth themed)

The first of them, “Secret footprints on the Camino”, belongs to the series "The fearless", by Jose Maria Plaza. This is a series aimed at children, which narrates the adventures of a group of four friends, in the tradition of series such as "The Five". On this occasion, the four protagonists travel the Camino de Santiago during their summer vacations, and find, as it could not be otherwise in this genre, adventures related to secret keys, Templar legends and even a possible hidden treasure.

The journey of the characters through the most emblematic places of the Camino (Roncesvalles, Pamplona, San Juan de Ortega...) allows the author to describe these places, as well as some of the legends associated with them. No wonder: as explained in the appendix, José María Plaza walked the Camino twice in search of documentation, before starting to write.

"Huellas secretas en el Camino" is edited by Edebé, and is aimed at readers aged 10 and over.

The other book we want to recommend here is "Pilgrimage to Compostela in the Middle Ages", an illustrated album published by the Santa Maria la Real Foundation. written by historian Jaime Nuño and illustrated by Chema Roman, the book explains, as its title indicates, the phenomenon of pilgrimages to Santiago during the Middle Ages in all its aspects: who the pilgrims were, what the trips were like, the dangers they faced during the Camino, life in hostels... The authors are also able to put the phenomenon of pilgrimage in a historical context: there are chapters, for example, explaining the role of religion in medieval society, as well as on pilgrimages to Rome and even to La Mecca. All accompanied by excellent full-page illustrations.

It is a very careful book and of great interest, and not only for children; in fact, it is possible that the adult reader interested in the Camino will learn something new from it. Without a doubt, it is one of the best dissemination works on the Camino that we have seen.
