More and more pilgrims are doing the Camino de Santiago by bicycle, and the initiative that we are going to talk about today, called EuroveloIt will certainly be of great interest to them.

cyclists02

Eurovelo consists of a network of cycling routes promoted by the European Cyclists Federation (ECF), which will cross all of Europe from the Black Sea to Finisterre, and from the Nordic regions to the Mediterranean. The vision of the ECF is to allow cyclists to cross Europe on pedals, through well marked and safe routes.

Within this project, the Camino de Santiago (more specifically the Camino Frances) has been integrated into the so-called route EV3, the Pilgrims Route. The complete route of this route covers from Trondheim, in Norway, to Santiago de Compostela, passing through cities such as Hamburg, Paris or Bordeaux. In Spain, as we have already said, this route will follow the route of the French Way.

Regarding its development, the Eurovelo project plans to complete all its routes by 2020. By then, all the necessary works will be finished, including signaling, asphalting, etc. In the case of the Camino Frances, as we can see on the official Eurovelo map, it is currently "under development".

Without a doubt, it is a very interesting initiative, which will contribute to making life easier for those who choose the bicycle to do the Camino.
